2009 WCT FINALS NEWSLETTER
April, 2009
The 2008-2009 WCT season wrapped up on April 5, 2009 drawing top women players from around the country to the International Polo Club in Wellington Florida to vie for the prestigious 2009 WCT Finals title. This year’s Finals followed and 8 Qualifier season including two International Qualifiers in England and Argentina. The Final match, between “Audi”; Melissa Ganzi (0) ,Gillian Johnston (1),  Sunny Hale (3),and Danika Rice (0) vs. “Parrot Heads” Roni Duke (0), Kristine Dalton (0),Carolyn Stimmel (1) and Tiffany Busch (1), was an outstanding example of the world class women’s polo that the WCT has come to represent. The WCT was thrilled to have the familiar and famous high goal announcer to Wellington for over 20 years David Andrews to call the Finals and Consolation matches.

Melissa Ganzi and Gillian Johnston, the Finals MVP of the day, made key play after play for Audi, setting up goal opportunities for team mate Sunny Hale who was the high scorer of the game with 9 goals and the overall high scorer of the tournament. Tiffany Busch of the Parrot Heads team took Best Playing Pony honors for her outstanding pony “Carisia”. Roni Duke’s first appearance in the   WCT Finals with her Parrot Heads team came ready to play defeating a 4 goal    Altair team in the playoff match to reach the finals, in one of the fastest games

of the tournament.

 

In a close Consolation Finals match, newcomer to the WCT Ashley Van Metre’s

Altair team defeated Catena. Kristy Waters Outhier was MVP and Erica

Gandomcar’s pony took the BPP honors.

 

Sponsors in support of the 2009 WCT Finals included Official Supplier of the

Wellington Mayor and avid polo fan Darell Bowen and Bill Kraft of Catena USA were both on hand to present the ladies with their awards.
