Women's Championship Tournament (WCT) Format
2009-2010
TO BECOME A PART OF THE WCT
If you have an existing women's tournament that meets the 0 - 6 goal criteria, you can
have your tournament designated a WCT Qualifier by completing a
USPA Sanctioned Tournament Application ( title of tournament section should read "your
tournament name, WCT Qualifier"). Once the USPA has approved your Sanctioned Tournament
Application, forward a copy of the approved application to the WCT to have your tournament
added to the WCT Schedule. WCT Qualifier Tournaments will be played by USPA rules under
the format below.
If you have an existing women's tournament that meets the 0-6 goal criteria and is
already a sanctioned USPA tournament, you can have your tournament designated a WCT
Qualifier by emailing the approved USPA sanction application to the WCT. WCT Qualifier
Tournaments will be played by USPA rules under the format below.
If you would like to establish a new women's tournament that meets the 0 - 6 goal criteria,
you can have your tournament designated a WCT Qualifier by completing a
USPA Sanctioned Tournament Application ( title of tournament section should read "your
tournament name, WCT Qualifier"). Once the USPA has approved your Sanctioned Tournament
Application, forward a copy of the approved application to the WCT to have your tournament
added to the WCT Schedule. WCT Qualifier Tournaments will be played by USPA rules under
the format below.

- For Individuals looking to play in a WCT Qualifier Tournament please see the WCT Tournament Schedule for a tournament near you or ask your club to host one.
- For USPA Junior and Collegiate Members - to play in a WCT event, contact the USPA to obtain a USPA handicap (to play in Association events other than Intercollegiate/Intersholastic tournaments). Juniors and collegiate members can return the following year to the Junior and Collegiate member dues status.
WCT QUALIFIERS
- The Handicap limits for WCT Qualifier events will be 0-6 goals.
- WCT Qualifier tournaments will be USPA sanctioned tournaments.
- WCT Qualifier Tournaments will be set at 4 chukkers to encourage more participation.
- WCT Qualifier Tournaments will be played on the American System (to allow for the ability to seed teams) or the Single Elimination System.
- Any woman player that is eligible to participate and plays in a WCT Qualifier event will be eligible to participate in the Annual WCT Finals and/or the WCT Entry Level Tournament regardless of win/loss status after the Qualifier tournament.
- WCT Qualifier teams do not have to stay together for the Finals or the Entry Level
Tournament.
- A final date will be set by which all qualifier events must be played.
- Players names and handicaps will be added to the eligible players list for the Annual WCT Finals and/or WCT Entry Level Tournament after they have participated in a WCT Qualifier.
- It is from this list of eligible players only, that teams may select their players for the Annual WCT Finals and/or WCT Entry Level Tournament.
WCT FINALS
- The Handicap for the 2010 WCT FINALS will be 3-6 goals.
- The Annual WCT Finals will be a USPA sanctioned tournament.
- All women players must have a current USPA handicap to participate. Join the USPA Now.
- Annual WCT Finals is to be played in the spring of each year.
- The WCT Finals will be played on the American System (to allow the ability to seed teams if necessary) or the Single Elimination System.
- In order to participate in the Annual WCT Finals, a woman must meet at least one of the following two criteria.
- She has played in a USPA WCT Qualifier Tournament (regardless of win/loss status after the event).
- She holds a current USPA handicap of 2 goals or above (in the year of the finals).
- Selection of players for the WCT Finals can be made from the list of eligible players only.
- Eligible players will be responsible for forming their own complete teams to enter in the WCT Finals.
WCT Entry Level Tournament (to be played in conjunction with the WCT Finals as an entry level event)
- The Handicap for the 2010 WCT Entry Level Tournament will be 0-2 goals.
- The Annual WCT Entry Level Tournament will be a USPA sanctioned tournament.
- Annual WCT Entry Level Tournament to be played each spring in conjunction with the WCT Finals.
- The WCT Entry Level Tournament will be played on the American System (to allow the ability to seed teams if necessary) or the Single Elimination System.
- In order to participate in the WCT Entry Level Tournament, a woman must meet both of the following criteria;
- She has played in a USPA WCT Qualifier Tournament (regardless of win/loss status after the event).
- She holds a current USPA handicap.
- Selection of players for the WCT Entry Level Tournament can be made from the list of eligible players only.
- Eligible players will be responsible for forming their own complete teams to enter in the WCT Entry Level Tournament.
