Women's Championship Tournament Format
2008-2009
Women’s Championship Tournament Qualifiers
|
- Handicap level for WCT Qualifier events will be set at 2-6 goals.
- WCT Qualifier Tournaments will be set at 4 chukkers to encourage more participation.
- WCT Qualifier tournaments will be USPA sanctioned events
- WCT Qualifier tournaments can be played in the spring, summer and or fall of each year.
- WCT Qualifier Tournaments will be played on the American System (to allow for the
ability to seed teams) or the Single Elimination System.
- In order to participate, a woman must have a current USPA handicap.
- Any woman player that is eligible to participate and plays in a WCT Qualifier event will be
eligible to participate in the Annual WCT Finals regardless of win/loss
status after the Qualifier tournament.
- There is no limit to how many qualifier tournaments a
woman could participate in as long as she does not play for more than one team in
any single tournament.
- WCT Qualifier teams do not have to stay together for the Finals.
- A final date will be set by which all qualifier events must be played. After this final
play-off date, a list will be made available containing the names and handicaps of
women players that are qualified to participate in the Annual WCT Finals.
- It is from this list of eligible players only, that teams may select their players for the
Annual WCT Finals.

Women’s Championship Tournament Finals

- Selection of players for the WCT Finals can be made only from a list of qualified players that will be made available after the final Qualifier play-off date has passed. Click here for current player eligibility list.
- Eligible players will be responsible for forming their own complete teams to enter in the WCT Finals. Single players will not be admitted, only complete teams.
- The Annual WCT Finals will be a USPA sanctioned tournament.
- All women players must have a current USPA handicap to participate.
- Annual WCT Finals to be played in the spring of the year following the Qualifier tournaments.
- The WCT Finals will be played on the American System (to allow the ability to seed teams if necessary) or the Single Elimination System. A round-robin format will be selected in the case of a WCT Finals consisting of solely three teams.
- In order to participate in the Annual WCT Finals a woman must meet at least
one of the following two criteria.
- She has played in a USPA WCT Qualifier Tournament
(regardless of win/loss status after the event).
- She holds a current USPA handicap of
2 goals or above (in the year of the finals).
- Handicap limit for the WCT Finals 2009 will be 3-6 goals.
