The Morning Line has the pleasure to announce that a new USPA Women's Championship Series Tournament was created this week for a championship final next Spring at Outback Polo.
At one of this Friday, April 22nd's USPA meetings aimed at bringing more participation and involvement from women players in the USPA, a new Women's Championship Series Tournament format was introduced. The Championship Series format will consist of Qualifier Tournaments at the 3-6 goal level that will be played in the Summer and Fall of each year around the country, and an annual Championship Finals Tournament to be held in the Spring of the following year (handicap limit to be determined at a later date, but will be a minimum of 4 goals and 6 chukkers).
Qualifier Tournaments are open to any woman with a current USPA rating. To participate in the Annual Championship Finals all players must be qualified to enter. Qualification for the Championship Finals will be that each player must meet at least one of the following two criteria; a player must have played in a qualifier event (regardless of win/loss status after the event) or have a current USPA rating of 2 goals or above (in the year of the Finals).
If your club would like to host one of these Championship Qualifier Tournaments, all that is required is for the club to submit a USPA Santioned Tournament Application with the appropriate fees to the USPA for apporoval. Goose Creek Polo Club in Middleburg, Virginia has already offered to become the first club to host a qualifier event this summer. Outback Polo Club in Wellinton, Florida has offered to host the first ever Women's Championship Finals Tournament to be held in the spring of 2006.
This series of tournaments will be the highest rated USPA women's polo in the United States today. if you would like to receive a copy of the Chamionship Tournament Series format or get more information about this tournament, please contact Sunny Hale. If you club is interested in hosting one of the Qualifier Tournaments you can receive a USPA Santioned Tournament Application Form from the USPA. |
