WCT Tournament Update

The 2nd International Qualifier of the 2008-2009 WCT polo season was held at the historic Jockey Club in Argentina on November 3-7, 2008 and had the distinction of being the first and only women's polo tournament officially endorsed and sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association (AAP).  

The Ladies Polo World Championship Gigaset Cup opened with three teams playing a round robin format on Nov.3rd.  San Jorge - Escorihuela Gascón with Nina Clarkin (3), Caroline Seth (0), Catalina Manzorro (1), Lucy Taylor (1) defeated the La Canada - Primitiva team of Natascha Baecher (0), Celia Crespo (1), Loli Bunge (0) and KC Beal (1) by a score of 8-3.  San Jorge - Escorihuela Gascón then defeated the Arelauquen team of Mumy Bellande (2), Lia Salvo (0), Catalina Bunge (0) and Annabelle Winterhalder (0) by a closer score of 5-3, sending San Jorge on to the finals with 2 wins in the round robin format. Arelauquen then defeated La Canada - Primitiva 7-2 to claim the second spot in the finals.

The finals saw Mumy Bellande and her 2 goal Arelauquen team take on and defeat a 5 goal San Jorge team with a score of 10-7. MVP went to Nina Clarkin, Mumy Bellande was high scorer with 4 goals and received the Best Mounted Player award.
