The Women’s Championship Tournament (WCT) is a world class women’s polo event that showcases the highest level women’s polo in the United States. The tournament format includes Qualifier tournaments played across the country and abroad throughout the year culminating in the WCT FINALS held in Wellington, Florida annually.
The WCT tournament and format was created in 2005 by top woman professional player and first woman in history to win the prestigious US Open, Sunny Hale. Her vision was to create an annual championship title to showcase the growth, handicap and skill level that women in the sport have achieved worldwide.
In the sport of football there is the Super Bowl, in baseball the World Series, in high goal polo there is the US Open and now in the sport of women’s polo the WCT FINALS has set the standard as the premiere women’s polo event in the United States, where the best players in the world come to compete for the annual championship title. With women players representing one of the largest growing sectors of polo today it comes as no surprise the enthusiasm and following the WCT has attracted.
In 2008 the WCT opened ts format to include internationally designated Qualifiers in England and Argentina as well as welcomed two new Qualifiers in California. New for the 2009-2010 season, to accomodate the growth and interest in the WCT worldwide, we are proud to announce the expansion of the WCT to include an entry level for up and coming women players. As the WCT celebrates the kick-off of its fifth season, it is well positioned at the forefront of women’s polo today.
Welcome to the WCT.
