April 2-6, 2008, the Women’s Championship Tournament (WCT) held its third annual WCT Finals. The WCT Finals is an international women’s polo event that showcases the highest level women’s polo in the United States. Six WCT Qualifier tournaments held from Texas to Florida qualified over 50 women to play in this years finals. The top women polo players from the USA, England, Jamaica and Zimbabwe competed in this year's Championship Tournament Final in Wellington Florida. This premiere women’s polo event represents women’s polo at its finest.
Women players represent one of the largest growing sectors of polo today. With the overwhelming number of new women polo players coming into the sport, it was only natural that there should be an event where players would have the opportunity to compete against the best women polo players in the world.
The WCT format was created in 2005 by top woman professional player Sunny Hale to help promote the awareness of the amount of talented women polo players in the United States and around the world and to increase the level of women’s polo competition played in the United States. The format allows for local polo clubs to hold WCT Qualifier Tournaments where players can gain eligibility to enter the Finals by participating in their local club tournament.
